On March 18th, the Executive Dean of the College Liao Dongsheng, Director of the Programme Katherine and Academic Assistant Huang Hong went to Beijing Normal University to attend Workshop on Quality Assurance for UK-China Transnational Education which was held together by the China Education Association for International Exchange, British Council and Beijing Normal University. Yan Bingchen, Director of Sino-Foreign Collaborative Education Office of Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges of Ministry of Education of China, Chen Li, Vice President of Beijing Normal University, and Luo Ruifu, consul of Cultural Education Office of the British consulate in Guangzhou attended the meeting and made a speech. Meanwhile principals of departments ofquality assurance of education and principals of university and college collaborative education were invited to the meeting,and made comments on the development and quality assurance of the collaborative education.
By 2015, there have been over 400 Sino-British collaborative programmes and agencies, and UK has been the second largest country which has built collaborative relationship of education with our country. How to betterintroduce high-qualified and high-standard education resources has been an important issue of current higher education of China.
Around four topics of partnership and development, study experience and effects,teaching and academic development, it was to explore the effective way of promoting quality assurance of collaborative education. Principals of Sino-foreign collaborative education programmes and agencies of the University of Nottingham Ningbo, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University and Surrey International Institute expressed their opinions on that. Prof. Liao also shared the experience of how to integrate both British and Chinese advanced module resources to improve teaching.
Statement of Quality Assurance for UK-China Transnational Education was made in the meeting. It pointed out that UK-China transnational education was an important part of cooperation of educational science research and academic communication between and internal the two countries; only when UK-China transnational education was found on mutual benefit then it could gain a great achievement and sustainable development; UK-China transnational education benefited from what the government and the universities have done to improve quality assurance; Sino-foreign collaborative education programmes and agencies could create innovation in the progress of teaching.
